Today, I finished Chapter 8, 9, and 10.
Chapter 8 is the final of the four chapters to introduce us to the main characters in the story. In this chapter, we meet John Smith, a member of the elite military unit Delta Force. John, just getting back from a mission, remembers multiple things, from his time as an Ohio Airman, to joining Delta Force. His thoughts are suddenly interrupted when an alarm goes off. He and the other members rush to the briefing room, where the commander informs them that a portal has appeared in the sky, and a big sphere-looking object has come out of it. John is put in charge of the operation, and everyone rushes to their fighters.
Once in the air, John and the other airmen fly towards downtown, where they see the giant UFO. The UFO then releases multiple small drones to engage the fighters, but the fighters are able to hold their ground. John realizes that if they destroy the main ship, the drones will stop. Knowing what he has to do, John calls upon Red 2 and Red 3 to cover him as he flies towards the enemy bridge.
However, the Sentries notice this, and fire massive barrages at the fighters. At first, the fighters manage to dodge the barrage, but then the Sentries increase the amount of fire, and Red 2 and red 3 get blown up. All by himself, John continues to evade the massive barrages until hit in the wing, causing him to loose his stability (control of the aircraft). Knowing what he must do, John increases his throttle and releases all of his weapons on the ship.
Sadly, the weapons get deflected by the ship's energy shields, but John won't have it. He continues to fire at the bridge and crashes into it, causing it to crash as John had speculated. However, before John dies, he is teleported. Everyone cheers as the UFO crashes, along with the drones, but stop as they see that more of those giant ships start coming out of the portal. This is where the chapter ends.
In Chapter 9, we see every person from the previous chapters wake up in different rooms. Wondering if it was a nightmare or if they are dead, each person is greeted by a small sphere, informing them on what happened and where they are. Once up to date with what's happening, each person follows the sphere out of their rooms. This is where the chapter ends.
In Chapter 10, we see everyone together. The Grand Protector tells the people what is happening, and gives a speech similar to the one at the very beginning of the book. He then introduces each character to one another, and tells them why he has summoned them here. He needs them to locate the Dark Stone before Agent N does so that they can stop him from destroying the Multiverse.
At first, each person isn't too exited to be part of this, and ask what happens if they don't want to do this. Verndari tells them they can leave, but first, he shows them what will happen if they let Agent N get ahold of the Dark Stone. These pictures show people destroying each other, explosions, and Agent N ruling over the Multiverse. After seeing this, everyone agrees to help find the Stone.
Verndari then takes them to a small hangar containing a prototype ship called the Universe Jumper, which is used to teleport between Universes easier. It also contains other functions, such as shields, defensive weaponry, and an A.I. that will help them locate the Dark Stone faster. Verndari then leaves them to keep an eye on the Multiverse and leaves Agent X in charge of the team.
Once they get inside, the members ask Agent X how they will find the Stone, and Agent X tells the that before they do that, they will need to find the Great Destroyer's staff, as that is the only thing that can contain the Stone's power. If they can get this, Agent N won't be able to use the Dark Stone as it is too powerful for him to handle without the staff. Agent X then activates the ship, and tells the computer to plot a course for Terr. This is where the chapter ends.
I chose to do Chapter 9 the way I did because I wanted to show what the heroes were doing after they were teleported. Along with this, there were a few things to explain for each character that would have made Chapter 10 drag on if not mentioned previously. The last paragraph about Ethan Johnson was a good example. I wanted to explain the problem with his Core and the limitations it had so that Verndari didn't have to tell him it during Chapter 10.
Before I end this update, here are a few interesting facts about the characters and the chapters:
*The giant sphere ship in Chapter 9 was actually the original idea I had when creating the Protectors of the Multiverse. I thought "Hey, this is cool, what if I had a Jedi, superhero, and other cool people fight this".
*John Smith was the very first character I ever created for this series. He originally had his own stories called the Ohio Airmen, where he led a squadron of pilots through different wars such as WWI,WWII, and other wars.
*John Smith is an advanced soldier with high tech gear. This involves a jet pack, wrist submachine guns (extend when flicked with wrists), and more.
*The fighter John flies is called the F-92 Slayer. It is an advanced VTOL aircraft with an engine on each side and one in the back. It is extremely maneuverable and has four rotating turrets on each wing. This makes it easier to aim in dogfights as the turrets rotate towards the enemy fighter.
*Due to the Core being damaged as seen in Chapter 8, Ethan's Core has less energy than the other Cores, meaning that it can't generate the armor the other Protectors wear as this will cause it to overheat quickly. While he can't use the armor, the Core is able to generate the shield around Ethan's body, allowing some protection. Other features such as health regeneration are still active, but take more time. Ethan can also grow, but doing so will cause the Core to overheat after a certain amount of time.
